From the above it is forecast that the commuter trip potential in the Waterfront will double from its present value of approximately 7,000 to 14,000 by 2000.
a-2 Shopping, Entertainment and Tourism Trip Potential
The actual numbers of people visiting the Waterfront area following its opening have been surveyed and are shown in Table 5-3. This shows that approximately 40,000 people visit the area on weekdays and around 59,000 people visit on holidays during the busiest season.
Incidentally, approximately 1,500,000 people visited the Waterfront in the single month of December in 1993, and the fact that the annual number of visitors exceeds 10 million is evidence of the high pulling power of the area.
